What is the cell theory?
Short answer
The cell theory is a foundational principle of biology with three parts: all living things are made of one or more cells, the cell is the basic unit of structure and function in life, and all cells arise from pre-existing cells. It unified biology by establishing the cell as the common basis of every organism, from bacteria to humans.
